Top 4 motivation tips for exercising in 2017
11 Jan 2017
Have you made a resolution to get fitter and healthier this year? If you have that’s an excellent step to be making in 2017. Resolutions are a great way to make a positive change but sometimes they can be tricky to keep up, that’s why we’ve put together our top four tips for keeping motivated throughout the year!
1. Reward yourself for your hard work – we all perform well when we know there is something nice waiting for us at the end. Why not reward yourself for your hard work in the gym by buying your favourite magazine on the way home from your workout or watching your favourite TV show when you get home? Eventually, your brain will associate the pleasure of the treat with the workout and you’ll never have to drag yourself out to exercise ever again.
2. Get your kit on – it’s been scientifically proven that wearing clothes that we associate with a particular activity helps us to perform better whilst doing it. So, get yourself some nice new gym clothes to help you get into the right frame of mind to exercise!
Give yourself a penalty for missing classes – if positive reinforcement doesn’t work for you, turn it on its head and use a penalty. Tell your friends to ‘fine’ you every time you miss a gym session or pilates class, whether that’s monetary or mundane tasks like hoovering their house for them, you won’t want to miss exercising again!
4. Set yourself goals – there’s no point trying to take all the hurdles at once, set yourself attainable goals to keep you on track. Once you hit the first milestone you’ll be more motivated to hit the next one!
If you keep in mind these tips you’re sure to make it through 2017 and complete your resolutions with ease!
