Gloucester Quays has won a prestigious award at a glittering awards ceremony held on Wednesday 2nd December in London. The British Council of Shopping Centres Gold Awards are the highlight of the retail calendar and showcase the best retail schemes in the country. The major new centre, which has been developed by a partnership between Peel and British Waterways in Gloucester’s historic docks, received a Special Commendation Award, despite having only opened its doors 6 months ago.

The Award followed a detailed presentation and site visits by a jury of leading retail experts who examined all aspects of the Quays’ development and day to day management and performance. The judges called Gloucester Quays “a clever and creative development that has invigorated the older, neglected buildings in the Quays area”.

Franco Muccini, Centre Director, who collected the award on behalf of Gloucester Quays said: “This is a fantastic accolade for Gloucester Quays. The cream of retail schemes around the country enters these awards and to be acknowledged for our work and so early into the development is a great achievement”.
