The Fountain Inn
It is run by 3 generations of our family and some superb staff, whose principle of service is exemplary.
It was first built in the 16th century, making it one of the city’s oldest ale-houses and was the last brew house in the city the 1950s.
There is a superb award-winning courtyard garden with tables and chairs with al-fresco dining that is a quiet haven from the hubbub of Westgate Street and the nearby city centre, city cross and the docks and Gloucester Quays are only a few minutes away.
There are close links throughout history to the nearby cathedral, after where the main bar is named. Upon entering the Cathedral Bar, you are greeted by a magnificent fireplace, which in cooler weather will have a real fire, burning logs, alongside which is a traditional oak bar serving 6 real ales, and a broad selection of lagers and ciders.
Their wide-ranging menu caters for all tastes and special diets can be accommodated since the vast majority of dishes are cooked fresh-to-order by our chefs.
They host a group of loyal Gloucester Rugby supporters and we welcome visiting fans with equal pleasure.
